By doing these things, I am called to lead God's people in prayer and worship, lead persons to faith in Jesus Christ, exercise pastoral supervision of the people of the congregation which includes counseling and declaration of God's forgiveness of sin, leading people in mission, and being involved in both the connectional church and the community. Jul 2010 - Jun 2013
      Chaplain

As Parsons Police Department Chaplains, we have several responsibilities. 1) There are several chaplains who are on a rotating on-call list. We spend one week on-call and may be called in to assist with emergencies, death notifications, homeless housing, etc. 2) The chaplains ride with officers at least once a month, hearing their stories, developing rapport, and offering support and pastoral care as needed. Our police department believes that spiritual health is part of being a wholly healthy person. Developing relationships with officers that may or may not lead to spiritual conversations is part of that. We must maintain the legal boundaries regarding religion, and cannot proselytize and can address it only as the officers breech the subject. 3) The chaplains help with events and public interactions such as parades, festivals, open houses, etc. 4) PPD Chaplains, as well as other clergy from Parsons, provide prayer for the city commission meetings.
