Research and Development engineering role within the Power Research Group.Developed a strong understanding of numerical modelling under the supervision of two senior engineers with a combined experienced of over 60 years. Was tasked with designing a tool in VBA that could optimise the parameters of a power management device and display key performance indicators. Variables were interdependent and necessitated a strong understanding of the principles underlying the design. Was highly commended for the work undertaken. The tool was adopted by a post-graduate employee to further develop it as a commercial sales tool.Additionally, supported experimentation and testing. Show less

      Jul 2018 - Mar 2019
Year in Industry Student (Structural Technology)

I was fortunate to work in a fantastic team of individuals with expert knowledge in structural technology and modelling, and experienced projects across numerous industries.I was largely involved in certification, particularly for aircraft and helicopters against Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and European Aviation and Space Authority (EASA) regulations. This involved complex numerical calculations and the development of structural finite element models. Additionally, I produced certification documents for fairground rides and evaluated maintenance documentation for products across several sectors.I was also credited with developing several tools useful to the design of a rail barrier and for business analysis.Throughout the placement I was commended on the efficiency and quality of my projects.I would like to thank Nigel Pready, Ashley Mallinson, Jack Tawney and Laurie Vaughn for their input and guidance throughout my time at the company.
