    • Lake County

      Oct 2005 - Dec 2013
      Director, Board of Directors

Originally appointed as representative of the Moraine Township Board, my service expanded as of 2011 with election to the Board of Directors of LCCTSC, a volunteer organization (supported by but not part of Lake County govt.) serving residents of Lake County. I participated in refining the by-laws and perfecting the mission statement. I provided improved communications materials including designing the LCCTSC logo, composing and designing a brochure and flyers to support outreach efforts. I created two well-attended and highly rated Transit Forums to educate regional public officials and foster coordination of transportation for public benefit in five contiguous townships in southeast Lake County. Chose to retire from active Board position, but continued to facilitate Southeast Quad Lake County Transit Coordination for an additional year. The mission of the LCCTSC is to facilitate the implementation of coordinated, efficient, reliable and affordable public transportation throughout Lake County, with particular reference to paratransit, that will serve the needs of persons with disabilities or medical challenges, the elderly, low income residents and those in need of transportation for access to employment. In 2022, Ride Lake County was finally implemented. Show less

Habitat Highland Park is a grassroots initiative dedicated to obtaining National Wildlife Federation (NWF) recognition and certification of Highland Park as a Community Wildlife Habitat. It is a joint project of Go Green Highland Park and the League of Women Voters of Highland Park-Highwood. Our goal is to provide safe and healthy habitats for insects, pollinators, butterflies, and birds in a collective effort to strengthen local biodiversity at all levels and reverse the alarming decline in pollinators in the US. Registered homes and balcony gardens in Highland Park earn points towards the NWF Community certification goal. See <GoGreenHP.org> Show less
