  Title: “Detecting and Optimizing the Effects of Deviations in the Supply Chain on the Logistics Cost”• Worked on the project as a team of 6 industrial engineers with business partner DHL LLP Istanbul• Analyzed the Purchase Orders that result in unexpected and excessive logistics costs that consist of the warehouse, storage, demurrage and inventory costs according to the business partner• Conducted root cause analysis for the excessive logistics costs and categorized the costs and related root cause to visualize the analysis• Coded and developed a Decision Support System via Microsoft Excel VBA for the business partner to minimize supply chain costs by suggesting decision variables on Purchase Orders, e.g., safety stock levels, order quantity, order frequency• Created mathematical models for (s, S), (r, Q) and L4L inventory policy models, each consisting of around 12 parameters, 9 decision variables and 14 constraints• Fitted a distribution to the material demands via data analysis and literature review to be used in YASAI Simulation tool that simulates dynamic models with data and suggested inventory policies• Accomplished approximately 35% cost reduction, depending on the inventory policy and the material, and created various summary reports explaining total cost functions, simulation results and suggestions to the user Show less
