      London Probation is a criminal justice organisation with 3,000 staff, managing records on about 43,000 active cases at any time.Responsible for all aspects of Information and IT Security including all policies relating to London Probation’s membership of the Government Secure Intranet (GSI) community.Responsible for ensuring London Probation is responding appropriately to all information requests including those processed under the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act. Oversaw a programme of, and conducted some, information security audits on London Probation business units. Designed and implemented secure electronic communications methods between London Probation and all of its partners and stakeholders.Advised system designers to ensure new system designs met CESG standards in preparation for accreditation. Show less Line Managed 4 IT Managers. Each Manager is responsible for providing equipment, connectivity for and expert advice to an Operational Director and the Director’s Senior Management Team. Each Manager covered an area containing 20-30 offices and 600-750 staff.Line Managed 2 IT Support Specialists. One was an expert in Lotus Notes Administration. The other was a specialist in support of Microsoft Office Applications and AD design and implementation.Reviewed and advised on all aspects of IT services for London Probation. Represented the interests of London Probation in national forums for IT Service Management and Information Security. May – August 2005, 1 of 6 technical assessors reviewing and scoring rival final bids for the National “OMNI” contract, a minimum 6.5 year, £25M/yr outsourced IT contract for the National Probation ServiceProject Managed the introduction of an Oracle Business Intelligence based Management Information System. Show less Managed a team that changed through the different phases of the project with between 6 and 24 staff working full time or for the majority of their time on delivering the project. Worked within the Prince2 standard throughout. Awarded the first ever London Probation High Achievement Award for delivering the project successfully.The project replaced approximately 200 servers based in local offices with 2 linked data centre servers. It replaced or reconfigured 3000 PCs and laptops and 800 printers in 130 locations. Operating Systems, email and office software were all upgraded as part of this process and security measures improved. All users were trained in the use of the new system before they and their data were migrated. This project was part of a national programme for Probation and was delivered in co-operation with nationally appointed suppliers who physically put the new hardware on desks.The project had work streams for:Application Development; Datacentre Preparation; User Accounts; Training; Logistics; Roll out (Technical); Roll out (User Support); Assistive Technology; Communications; HQ.At the outset of the project I identified a change to the previously planned way to implement a legacy case management system that saved the project £250,000 in reduced hardware costs for a development effort of less than £20,000.
