      Student assistant

      As a Student Assistant at the Museum of the North, I organized and cataloged the museum's marine invertebrate specimens into Arctos, a collection management information system. I also worked on several population genetics research projects where the goal was to created and prepare genetic libraries for sequencing. This included isolating and purifying DNA, performing agarose gel electrophoresis, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and running samples through a fluorometer, spectrophotometer, and sonicator. I presented our work at the Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference (2018), Western Division American Fisheries Society Annual Meeting (2018), and the Undergraduate Research & Scholarly Activity: Research and Creative Activiy Day (2018).       Working as a Research Technician for the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, I built, deployed, and recovered oceanographic moorings, provided logistical support for colleagues in the field, collected hydrokinetic-fisheries interaction data, maintained and stored scientific instruments and equipment, and conducted fieldwork in various locations throughout Alaska. I also assembled and organized oceanographic, hydrological, and fisheries data sets in various formats.

      As a Naturalist Aid for the East Fork State Fish Hatchery, I am responsible for daily care of a variety of fish species, including walleye, hybrid walleye (saugeye), striped bass, hybrid striped bass, channel catfish, muskellunge, and fathead minnows. Cleaned and maintained rearing units, fed fish, safely handled fish and monitored growth, observed fish behavior, sorted and enumerated fish prior to stocking, harvest production ponds, and stocked fish.
