  Assistant Engineer

  In a year-long internship, I progressed from a position creating blueprints for BTS installations to a product manager role overseeing networking system optimization for ten cities in northern China. Initially tasked with creating BTS illustrations with AutoCAD, I acquired adequate knowledge about Motorola's MACD 2G telecommunication technology through hard self-learning and transitioned to the role of an assistant engineer, participating in various network optimization projects across China. Recognized for my outstanding performance, I was appointed a leadership role, working as a product manager overseeing networks performance in China's Gansu province, leading a team of ten engineers responsible for optimizing telecommunication networks in ten cities. In addition to project planning, I managed communication with our client at the time, China Unicom in Gansu, gathering feedback, addressing concerns, and enhancing customer satisfaction by improving the quality of engineering architecture. Finally, I compiled my firsthand experience and theoretical knowledge into a document titled 'The Application of Repeater in CDMA System,' which was widely used as guidance by Motorola optimization engineers.   Sponsored by EPSON and DIMES Laboratory, I lead a research on automated design of circuits based on single-grain TFT Technology (Thin Film Transistor), a cutting-edge technology back then. This project of multi-disciplinary nature required extensive knowledge across various fields of Microelectronics, ranging from material physics, device fabrication, IC design, etc. To steer the research work, I organized regular discussion with professors and PhDs from different fields, resolving open issues.   Worked as a staff technical writer, my responsibilities include: 1. Independently crafting complex implementation instructions for engineers at companies integrating Dolby technologies into their software and hardware products. Customers include Apple, Amazon, MediaTek, etc. This role requires proficiency in various tools, including DITA XML with Oxygen, GitHub, Visual Studio, and more. The success in this position stems from my solid knowledge in fields of computer science, telecommunication, electronica engineering, and microelectronics.2. As the sole contributor, creating comprehensive API documentation for both IDK and SDK projects through source code analysis and effective communication with developers. Documentation covers API description, usage guidelines, code integration instructions, debugging processes, and test procedures. Target platforms include Android, MacOS, Unreal Engine, Xbox, etc.3. Conducting up-front analysis and research on technical ecosystem of target products, delving into relevant technologies, developing formal use cases and task-based documentation.4. Interfacing with cross-functional Dolby product development teams, including Design Engineers, QA Engineers, Customers Support Engineers, and Product Managers. 5. Contributing to the ongoing improvement of workflow to make documentation development more efficient, leveraging tools such as Python, JavaScript, Excel Macro, among others. For instance, I personally: a. Engineered a Python script that automates cumbersome Word-to-Dita conversion process. b. Developed an Excel sheet imbedded with VBA Macro code to process customer information. The code intelligently filters out the required test cases for each customer based on their specific needs.6. Developing documentation plans and efficiently managing associated tasks under tight schedules with project management tools, such as Jira and Agile. Show less As the first technical writer from a non-native English-speaking country at Dolby, my work primarily focused on the audio aspects of Dolby technology. The documentation I created spanned a spectrum of technologies, including the integration of Dolby Audio technologies (Dolby Digital Plus, AC4, Dolby Atmos) into the audio ecosystem, online data distribution, audio tuning tools, mobile audio capture, and more. In this role, I demonstrated strong communication skills in the process of collaborating with engineers from different departments, gathering and consolidating information, processing and organizing it into content that is easily understood by specific clients. I also utilized tools such as charts and figures to enhance understanding of the content.
