  The nonprofit association ZEITKUNST was founded in Cologne in 2006, and provides a platform to over one hundred musicians and media artists active at regional and international level. The thematic focus lies on the notion of fusing classical instruments, electronic sound generators and electronic images to produce a single form of artistic expression.Platform for audiovisual art and contemporary musicAs a platform for producing, presenting and communicating audiovisual art, ZEITKUNST organizes international exchange projects and frischzelles such as the TIMEART ensemble, the FRISCHZELLE festival for intermedia improvisation, and workshops at schools of art and music in the NRW region (KHM, MHS, ICEM). By providing a showcase for young media artists and contemporary music, ZEITKUNST has gained recognition beyond the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia.   In 2009, Zeitkunst‘s many years of hard work culminated in the formation of the Timeart Ensemble. The work of this fixed group of musicians can be described in terms of intermedial performance: Multi-media artists collaborate with musicians playing acoustic and electronic instruments, merging their individual actions on stage to produce a single artistic expression.Timeart has an international line-up. This is nothing out of the ordinary, but it is an integral, conceptual component of this ensemble, which aims to create a cross-cultural artistic language that extends over geographical boundaries. For each concert, international artists come together and present their work in different, cultural settings, but always with the influences of ensemble members from that country.Furthermore, the ensemble develops its own tools for audio analysis and graphic visualisation, implementing a variety of technical tricks and avoiding ready-made software in the process.   Visiting scholar: teach, lecture and perform

  Visiting scholar: teach, lecture and performIn this project, German and Chinese musicians and media artists will meet to exchange their artistically work in performance-situation. The group first met during the "Frischzelle" festival for intermediate performance in Cologne in October 2012 and the second part takes places in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. The main idea is to develop a unique audiovisual performance, bringing together their cultural educations, clichés and thinkings whilst being able to communicate using their common languages of music and image, creating a homogeneous fusion of media and mind.http://en.caa.edu.cn Show less
