In August 2017 the school was bought by Haileybury (Melbourne) to become Haileybury Rendall School. As the House Master I assisted in creating a purposeful and caring learning environment for students through the application of high professional standards of pastoral care and support for student’s emotional, social, spiritual discipline, behavioural needs, and learning difficulties.       NRL Cowboys House provides supported accommodation for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from some of North Queensland’s most remote and educationally disadvantaged communities, enabling them to access quality secondary education opportunities in Townsville.As Head of Boarding I managed a campus of 55 Indigenous students from remote communities in Queensland, ensuring that all students get to school – they were in 8 different schools between them - complete requirements asked of them, and that they were set up to succeed. I led a high performing team in the provision of a safe, caring boarding environment that upheld and reflected values and enriched the lives of students within the campus, resulting in being nominated as a finalist for ‘Excellence in Indigenous Boarding Leadership’ and in being awarded the ‘2019 NRL Community Program of the Year’.I managed teams of students as they navigated entry into national sporting competitions by coordinating all aspects of competition preparation, allowing students to showcase their true potential and skills. This included mentoring and coaching 10 students to enter the prestigious Chief of Army competition, held in Melbourne, the first indigenous team to participate and 10 students to enter an outrigger/rowing program, resulting in participation in a regatta in Mission BeachMy responsibilities also included liaising with student’s parents, schools, and the community to provide the best service to the students and encourage their growth and success by assisting in the co-ordination of the house study program and implementing extra-curricular activities. The Deputy Director Head of Residential and Operations works with the Director of Glengarry and the Leadership team As Deputy Director Head of Residential and Operations I lead the business operations of the campus, managing non-instructional functions services and staff to ensure operational excellence and achievement of budget.I recruit and manage the operation teams including administration, catering, clinic, maintenance, grounds, subcontractors and boarding staff to ensure a high quality of operations Preparing the campus for the new school year, I ensure all furniture, equipment, supplies and services are organised and oversee the maintenance of the schools facilities and assets through the development and implementation of the building and maintenance program.I develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures that maximise safety and wellbeing of the students that board to ensure consistency with best practice industry standards and compliance guidelines. This includes Risk Management and Safety frameworks and procedures, policies and practices to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, visitors and contract workers.Working with the Head of Academics and Student Life in matters of discipline and student welfare I ensure students behave in a safe and appropriate manner, providing regular updates to leadership and pastoral care teams related to student wellbeing.
