This position began as job share to complete my NQT year. After Christmas of 2016 I took on a full time role as class teacher. I remained full time teacher in the 17/18 academic year and gained the responsibility of PE lead for the school. During my time at St John’s I successfully applied for 3 Gold Sports Mark accreditation’s, completed the relevant funding documentation for the sport premium budget, helped facilitate, organise and coordinate inter-school competitions/events and clubs. I formed a sports committee with the Year 4 children and implemented a school wide initiative which I had developed after liaison with another local ‘Outstanding’ school called ‘Fit and Fruity Friday’. All children from Reception to Year 4 took park in activities during a Friday playtime with their ‘Fit and Fruity Friend’ from another year group as part of a carousel of activities. The children worked together in their classes to put together an exercise routine to music that they would lead for the rest of the children and their parents before the school day began. Each class was allocated a ‘Fit and Fruity Mascot’ for their class which went home with a different child each week, enabling them to share any examples of healthy living from home. I initially presented the idea to all the staff to ensure we shared the same vision and ethos for the changes to the school day and following this presented and gained the support of the parents.Whilst at St John’s I took part in two Maths research projects aimed specifically at the EYFS curriculum, both of which culminated in presentations to a network of teachers and SLT. I also had opportunities for CPD with the ‘Math’s No Problem’ Scheme of Work where I went to EYFS specific training and was lucky enough to attend a conference with Yeap Ban Har. Show less
