      Educator

My main duty was teaching PHYSICS and MATHEMATICS to students sitting in the University of Cambridge International Examinations. I was responsible to set up tests and final examination question papers for both subjects. I used to teach Chemistry a little as well. The director entrusted me with some administrative work after classes or during my free time. These included preparation of student memos, assistant discipline master, and dealing with student academic issues. I would also like to add that working as a teacher reinforces discipline and professionalism. I have developed an appreciation for different persons’ points of view and in terms of disagreement, my interpersonal skills were used to avoid conflict. Show less

      Oct 2013 - Jul 2014
      Intern

My internship at MRT was one of the biggest stepping stones in my career even before starting my undergraduate degree. Under the guidance of my supervisor and the staff at MRT, I familiarized myself with the following: circuit analysis/troubleshooting and circuit design software, RF/DSP Electronics, use of specialized RF and EMC equipment, handling of workshop mechanical equipment, use of Software Defined Radios (SDR), open source software such as Linux distribution and participated in night observations. I did a lot of circuit repairs and mounted my own regulated DC power supply for the Super Heterodyne Back-end system. I showed relentless interest in the engineering aspects of the telescope and my colleagues also introduced me to the scientific aspect of it. Show less

      Nov 2014 - Jan 2015
      Research Intern

During my freshman year B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Mauritius (UoM), I continued my journey as an intern at MRT during vacations. From 11/2014 to 01/2015 I worked on Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) testing (around 151.5 MHz) using a Yagi antenna and Keysightspectrum analyzer, set automated logging, and then analyzed the results.

      May 2016 - Jul 2016
      Research Intern

From 05/2016 to 07/2016, under the Work Based Learning (WBL) scheme of the University of Mauritius, I initiated the implementation of the TIGRE project (Teaching Interferometer for Galactic Radio Emission) proposed by the European Hands-On Universe (EUHOU) project goals. It’s a 2 element interferometer for 21 cm Hydrogen line (1420 MHz) radio observations. Due to the absence of suppliers, I built the 2 feed horns by myself and tested them successfully. Due to time constraints, I couldn’t complete the project. So, I had to lead and help a group of final-year BSC Physics students who continued my work during the next academic year. I was helping another student implement a ground station for satellite (open source CubeSat) communication. I also designed a Deuterium Array Telescope on Sketch up for a Ph.D. student’s thesis.
