      Employed as a Computer programmer using Cobol, Range Cobol & Basic programming languages and the Transaction Processing System (TPS). I was also trained in the Jackson Techniques for structured programming. This position required coding new programs as well as maintenance and problem solving on programs/systems already in use. I also had to be available at night for call outs for fault finding if a program crashed. Prior to this I worked as a Computer Operator and was appointed Shift Leader in 1980. Selected for an ICL Cobol Programming Course in June 1981 and appointed to Standard Bank’s Programming Staff in January 1982 which position I held until I immigrated to South Africa. Show less
