      Jun 2017 - Dec 2017
      Research Intern

During this internship, I did rotations at the Molecular Parasitology Research Laboratory (MPRL) and the Centre for Human Virology and Genomics (CHVG). At the MPRL, I kept a record and daily assessed the molecular storage facilities. In addition, I assisted in a project that involved molecular genotyping of mosquito species from various study sites across Nigeria. The project formed a big part of the efforts channelled towards malaria control. My work on this project includes mosquito sample collection, DNA extraction, mini-preps, PCR assays, and gel electrophoresis. Furthermore, at the CHVG, I measured and assessed various vital clinical parameters (e.g., cell counts, viral loads) in managing and treating HIV-1 and hepatitis patients using COBAS haematology analyzer and COBAS AmpliPrep/COBAS TaqMan instruments. Also, during this internship, I participated in health outreaches and produced short articles to inform Nigerians about the prevalence of hepatitis B and C. • University of Uyo

      Mar 2019 - Mar 2020
      Graduate Assistant

      • Assisted the lead research officers in guiding undergraduate students during lab sessions.• Performed statistical analysis on data sets generated during undergraduate laboratory sessions using Excel and GraphPad Prism software.• Worked with the Head of Department on various teaching and administrative tasks, including grading undergraduates’ lab reports and assessments.

    • University of Bath

      Oct 2020 - Mar 2022

I undertook a four-month project that validates the involvement of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in the dissociation of hexameric insulin to receptor-binding monomers. The dissociation of insulin is an important event that initiates the insulin signalling pathway. Hence, a detailed understanding of the underlying structural and molecular mechanisms is desirable.Techniques involved: E. coli transformation, Plasmid preparation, Cloning, Recombinant protein expression and IMAC purification, SDS-PAGE Analysis, Dialysis and Densitometric analysis of gel bands on ImageJ software Show less • Worked with others in a team of student fundraisers that raised about £185,000 for the University of Bath Alumni Fund during the 2021 Spring Telethon project.• Undergone extensive training sessions on telephone fundraising and the use of Mole Software.• Initiated telephone conversations (that lasted at least 10 minutes in most cases) with Alumni of the University.• Encouraged over 15 Alumni to commit to a monthly donation for the Alumni Fund.• Built new connections with Alumni in my field of study through career chat over the telephone.
