Participants were carefully selected to represent various… Show more In July 2022, the 2022 YSEALI Regional Workshop on Civic Education for Good Governance took place in Manila, Philippines. This event, hosted by the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines in partnership with Cultural Vistas, brought together 84 young leaders from across Southeast Asia.The workshop focused on civic education, with the goal of promoting civic participation, good governance, and transparency and accountability in government. Participants were carefully selected to represent various youth leaders from the 10 ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste.The program began with virtual activities in April, providing background on civic education theory, lifelong learning, and best practices in digital engagement strategies. The main part of the workshop spanned four days from July 6 to July 9, 2022, during which participants worked in teams to develop projects and campaigns.After the workshop, ongoing support was provided to the teams as they implemented their projects and applied the principles of citizen engagement they had learned within their home communities and across the region.
