      May 2022 - Dec 2024

In my role as Director of Marketing and PR I am responsible for managing the external communications for The Appalachian student news organization. I lead and train a team of Marketing Representatives in their own contributions to The Appalachian's community outreach. My team and I are responsible for all social media and community outreach when it comes to promotion, recruitment, public relations, and breaking news. I work with the editorial board and our faculty advisor on big picture ideas about the direction of student media at Appalachian State University. Show less My position requires me to be reachable and timely. I contribute to The Appalachian’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram presence by reading the stories uploaded daily to our website and crafting captions and visual posts, using Adobe Indesign, to upload. I use Facebook Business Suite and TweetDeck to schedule Facebook and Twitter posts, as well as Later.com’s link in bio feature for our Instagram. I work with the Marketing Director and the rest of the editorial board on big picture ideas to improve reach and website interaction through participation in community events. Lastly, I assist in managing a team of Marketing Representatives in their social media and community outreach efforts. Show less

Additionally I have created graphic media content that helped to promote different campaigns. I also helped to brainstorm big picture ideas for the direction of the company's social media presence.

      Marketing Intern

I worked with Water to Wine leading up to the holiday season which is the most important time for nonprofits because of the large amount of donations they will receive. During my internship I proofread and edited internal and external facing documents for clarity and errors. I also crafted press releases and narratives relaying information about Wine to Water’s achievements to their donor base as well as the general public. Lastly, I created and researched social media posts and campaigns to reach donors specifically during the Giving Tuesday event that nonprofits participate in internationally. I learned a lot about the construction of common documents in nonprofits like press releases and annual reports. I also got to practice graphic design and social media post generation under the specific Wine to Water style guide. However, the best thing about my internship was the opportunity to work for an organization that is doing lifesaving work around the globe and getting to see the impact they make on people.
