    • Cadent Gas Limited

      Oct 2016 - Dec 2017
      Product Owner / Scrum Master

After the separation of the two businesses I was asked to help in shaping a new Agile development team for Gas Distribution due to my previous experience with the Agile Methodology. I eventually joined the team to continue this shaping and to help educate the rest of the business of the benefits of Agile over traditional Waterfall methods. To set up the team I created and documented the team’s processes and aligned this with the department processes to help us work together more easily. I took on the roles of both Product Owner and Scrum Master to fill the gaps within the team. As Product Owner I was fully responsible for a portfolio of products that were being developed in-house, including capturing all of the user stories, and I maintained the relationship between the business and the developers to ensure we built the most valuable products. For the Scrum Master side of the role I was providing the development team with the most productive environment possible by removing any blockers and shielding them from interference outside of the team. I attended governance meetings on behalf of the team to ensure we aligned with the overall IT strategy; maintaining dashboards and progress slides to present in these governance meetings and to feed into senior management meetings. From July 2017 I provided line management support to a Junior Business Analyst and a Junior Developer within the team, this included one-on-one sessions, continual feedback and areas of improvement for both. I maintained the roadmaps and release plans for my products to ensure we maximised the value offered to the customers at each deployment phase, I also capture and refined all the business requirements as user stories on the Product Backlog. To streamline the release of the versions of the products I owned, I managed relationships with stakeholders from various other teams and departments, collating their feedback and seeking sign off. • National Grid

      Jun 2018 - Sept 2019
      Scrum Master

As the Scrum Master on a large programme I looked after the day-to-day activities of four workstreams. I was responsible for keeping the development teams productive and efficient by ensuring interruptions from outside of their immediate team were kept to a minimum and that any blockers were resolved or mitigated as quickly as possible. A Scrum Master is a servant leader and as such, I facilitated several sprint ceremonies on behalf of the Agile teams; this allowed them to continue the flow of communication and to remain transparent on their sprint progress. One of my main duties was to keep the teams honest, and while the ceremonies enabled this during structured meetings, I continually checked that the teams were updating and refining their respective Product and Sprint Backlogs with good quality user stories to maintain an accurate version of truth for their stakeholders.
