  This was a seasonal position. As a daycare employee, I oversaw and assisted with activities for children ages between the ages of 5 and 12. I helped to maintain a positive work environment by emphasizing respect and responsibility at all times, and I communicated concerns effectively with staff members, children, and parents as they arose.

  As a resident advisor, I regularly assessed residents’ needs and directed them towards Tulane programs that suited their concerns and/or interests. I coordinated with co-workers and off-campus organizations to hold effective social and informational programs for residents, and designed and decorated bulletin boards to promote local resources and events for my residents.

  I tutored middle and high school students in various subjects during after-care hours, as well as supervised after-care activities to maintain a positive working environment. Between August and December of 2014, I specifically helped high school students improve their reading and writing skills.

  I assisted with planning activities and promoting community development within residence halls, and I acted as a resource by addressing both resident and staff concerns. I was responsible for overseeing a staff of eighteen Resident Advisors.

  DiscoveryFest Coach Team Lead

  I led the coaching team to structure recess for 400+ elementary school students each day. "Structuring" recess involved planning activities for students that enabled them to grow both socially and emotionally. I encouraged an environment that revolved around critical thinking and problem-solving, as well as teamwork and good sportsmanship.

  Literacy Program Specialist

  As a Literacy Program Specialist, I work with adult students who come from around the world. Our over 200 students come with the desire to improve their English, gain the skills necessary to pass the Citizenship test, improve basic literacy skills, and/or achieve the GED. I help prepare our volunteer tutors to be successful in leading our classes, and I connect students and tutors to build relationships that embrace diversity and self-empowerment.
