  PhD Researcher in Sexual Conflict and Sexual Selection in the Indian Meal Moth

  I was a NERC funded early-career researcher at the Centre of Ecology and Conservation, Cornwall Campus with the University of Exeter.My research focussed on sexual conflict and sexual selection, both pre- and post-copulatory. Sexual conflict arises due to the conflicting interest of males and females in reproductive investment, and is a powerful evolutionary force. Using experimental evolution, I altered the adult mating sex ratio to either male biased or female biased. This changes the selective forces between populations that may directly impact on sexual conflict and sexual selection.   European Meeting of Ph.D Students in Evolutionary Biology (EMPSEB 19)

  I aided in organising the 19th European Meeting of PhD Students in Evolutionary Biology (EMPSEB), an international and student-led conference for PhD students.As Treasurer, I managed the budget (£50k) for this conference in its entirety. As well as gaining experience of large event management, I ensured varying projects were complete within their allocated budgets. Supporting the President and Vice-President, regular meetings were conducted to keep on top of expenditure. I worked alongside the University of Exeter finance team to open and maintain a bank account, keeping track of all payments and withdrawals. All vendors were invoiced and paid in line with contractual agreements. I also aided in grant applications to source new routes of sponsorship for the conference. Finally, I produced a report for the main sponsors of the conference, to allow complete visibility into the expenditure after EMPSEB ended. Show less
