The University of Wisconsin - Stout offers eleven different chemistry courses. The Chemistry Lab Manager is responsible for preparing all the chemicals and solutions the students use in their lab classes, inventory and hazard labeling of all chemicals in the department, and recruitment, training and scheduling of employees. I demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills by communicating with the professors about what they would like to teach in lab each semester, and organizing their syllabuses in a way that I could keep track of what labs were happening, and when. My supervisor and I created a lab training manual, and training kits for future employees. Show less

Outpatient: My outpatient rotations allowed me to practice in the Fitchburg Dialysis Unit, counsel patients in diabetes and general nutrition through UW-Health Clinics, and experience the role of an RD in research.Inpatient: My inpatient rotations allowed me to perform the nutrition focused physical exam (NFPE), counsel and educate patients at the University or Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, and the American Family Children's Hospital. My rotations included: oncology, neurology, transplant, extended care, critical care, surgery, chronic care, and pediatrics. Public Health: My Public Health rotation was at Access Community Health, which gave me experience working with a variety of health professionals in a Patient-Centered-Care setting. I was able to counsel and educate patients, and develop nutrition education materials focused on diabetes.Food Systems: My Food Systems rotation was at Metcalfe’s Market, where I was able to implement FDA guidelines and improve the Market's Food Safety Reports, and promote social media and food demonstrations to enhance profit. I was also able to develop and evaluate recipes, formulas and menus for acceptability and affordability. Journal Club: Journal Club is an additional project in which I was able to critique and present a journal article, and discuss the findings with fellow interns and dietitians. I presented and led the discussion on the article: Tanofsky-Kraff, M. Targeted prevention of excess weight gain and eating disorders in high-risk adolescent girls: a randomized controlled trial. Each meal included the correct amount of whole grains, meat/meat alternative, vegetables (ex. red/orange, dark green, legumes, starchy and other), fruits, and milk (low fat or fat free) with the nutrient analysis and portions specific to each grade level.
