    • Morehouse College

      Sept 2005 - May 2007
Micro Optical Element Research Lab Researcher

-Researched new aspects of photo-activity of subterranean termites for a new concepts of pest control in more environmental friendly methods -Designed and demonstrated an optical environment for the study of the photo-activity subterranean termites the test setup for the environment to find the range of wavelength of electromagnetic light that subterranean termites are most sensitive, presented poster on the design-Performed chemical lithography for lenses and mirrors designing patterns which contributed to various laser diffraction experiments impacting the quality of the diffraction patterns in all the experiments-Researched Extrement Ultraviolet lithography techniques Show less

    • NASA

      May 2006 - Aug 2006
      Intern- Nondestructive evaluations branch

      • Led team to design and create a new 3D carbon Nano-tube (CNT) structure with trenches using CAD program for a new FET (field effect transistor)/ Memory Device concept device using chemical, photo and electron beam lithography in the SEM (Scanning electron microscope)• Characterized carbon Nano-tubes using AFM, SEM, XRD (X-ray energy dispersive analysis), Raman, and VSM (vibrating sample magnetometers) methods.• Produced a wafer of the 3D device and created a new design based on correction• This researched contributed to future endeavors in CNT Nano-devices for solid state electronic and health applications from this lab• Wrote technical paper, poster and oral presentation on the project• The errors in the lithography work have since been corrected and a new design for the photo mask has been designed to correct errors in alignment and improve the electrode contact capabilities. • University of Connecticut

      Aug 2007 - May 2009
      Research Assistant - Material Science

      • Specialized in use of the AFM (atomic force microscopy) with inverted optical microscope for biological/wet samples • Led in the design of StRAP (structural recovery after probing) method for AFM/ optics Nano-force measurements and observations.• StRAP impacted the study of chemical - mechanical stimuli on cells allowing for simultaneous observing recover and probing of cells and the reaction on actin to stimulus for directly characterizing local responses contributing to test for future in-vitro direct drug delivery model using AFM probe.• Use the Velocity imaging application to do 2D and 3D analysis of optical data showed that cell distortion from Nano indentation can be significant, explaining challenges in AFM imaging of live cells.• Results of project yields a poster on impact threshold of cell response, recovery rates and 3D images of cell recovery at nanoNewton levels of force Show less
