  As the first Walter Nathan Literary Initiatives assistant director, I used my project management skills to turn the steering committee’s vision for this new program into a reality. Deliverables included (to name just a few) a poetry reading for 400 Twin Cities high school seniors, an undergraduate creative writing scholarship, and a high school poetry contest.In this role, I simultaneously managed multiple projects of varying lengths and collaborated cross-functionally with numerous vendors, community members, and university staff to deliver results that consistently exceeded the steering committee’s expectations. The donors recognized our successful first year of programming by making an additional gift to the fund.At the end of my one-year appointment, the steering committee invited me to stay on for a second term. During that time, I created a handbook that formalized policies and procedures to guide future assistant directors of the Walter Nathan Literary Initiatives. Show less
