  I was employed as a paid member of staff during this placement that formed part of my Politics degree. I worked for Meg Hillier, MP for Hackney South & Shoreditch and Chair of the Public Accounts Committee. My work included drafting responses to constituents on a diverse range of policy matters, managing a high volume of correspondence. I conducted various pieces of research and was responsible for keeping the team updated with the progress of Bills through Parliament. I managed constituency advice surgeries, wrote articles for Meg's website, arranged and led tours of Parliament and tickets for Question Times which were in high demand due to it being a London constituency. I met regularly with constituents on a wide variety of issues affecting them personally. Show less

  Parliamentary Assistant

  I was Parliamentary Assistant for the MP for City of Chester. I was the sole member of staff working alongside him in his Westminster office. I managed his correspondence with constituents on policy matters. I undertook research to help Chris with his parliamentary business and helped him prepare speeches and interventions. I would help manage his diary and media engagements, often acting as the point of contact for Chris.I worked to assist his role as Chair of the APPG for Aerospace, along with other work for causes Chris was passionate about, including a project on sustainable palm oil with Chester Zoo. I would greet constituents who visited Parliament and sat in on Chris's meetings to offer advice and support when necessary. Show less
