Established and developed strong relationships with host family, school administration, community members, and leaders through participating in community activities and successfully practicing informal conversations in the local language.Built capacity of local counterparts:• Team-taught 18 English class per week with four local counterparts. Team-teaching and coaching counterparts enabled the sharing of resources, developed teaching materials and furnished teachers with upgraded facilitation techniques. The team-teaching session introduced and reinforced student centered lessons, interactive 4MAT lesson planning, and diverse learning styles methodology with an emphasis on technology as a learning tool, encouraged critical thinking and increased group work. As a result, counterparts experienced increased participation and achievement of 80 students and can use all necessary equipment independently and confidently.• Increased counterparts’ English skills through weekly English teacher talking club which dually served as a planning hour and “professional” English practice for 5 local counterparts. Daily TOEFL and exchange preparation tutoring sessions focused on high level reading, writing, and speaking for two teachers using TED talks, TOEFL prep materials, and current event topics.• Facilitated four formal and three informal SMARTboard and technology in the classroom seminars benefitting 25 teachers from Asanbek Tabaldiev School and 35 teachers, directors, and Naryn district heads. These seminars broke down the basic functions of SMART boards; demonstrated a sample lesson first using 25 third form students then again with the same group a year later; articulated the importance of technology in the classroom by providing examples of growth from the 25 student control group. The seminar information and presentation was evaluated by both new and repeat participants through verbal and written feedback.*For further description of service, contact me. Show less
