  I led a team of 9 including 2 apprentices, I have had really good working relationships with my team as I started exactly where they are as an apprentice. I know what makes my team tick and I strive to keep them prepared for every scenario. I am the go-to person when someone needs assistance whether that be on the job or simply for advice. No one wants to take my place due to the amount of time, effort and passion that I gave to everyone who comes across me.I am an organised person and since becoming a manager some of those skills have been really helpful. It's been important to me to be on top of everything going on and have just enough knowledge to keep involved and relevant, it's not about trying to get 100% of everything because that could potentially cause stress.As a manager I have been able to gain and improve a wide range of skills including: • Planning – looking at a monthly forecast of what work is due to come in and ensuring I have accurate resource within my team to get it completed.• Communication – ensuring information is communicated to my team in a clear and concise manner and without any confusion.• Decision Making – I was recently involved in a selection process within my team where the team size was downsizing by 1 role. I was responsible for putting together evidence supporting various criteria for each team member and rating it based on how well they met the criteria. • Delegation – Moving various tasks that are asked of me to my team frees me up to focus on high value activities and balance my time productively.
