  Research internship at the Department of Human Genetics. I performed research on non-canonical splice site mutations and their effect on exon skipping and learned a lot of techniques used in biomedical research, including PCR, gel electrophoreses and Gateway Cloning of large (10kb) fragments.

  My PhD research was funded by MSCA Horizon-2020 ITN StarT. As part of this network, I researched whether modulating mitochondrial function could be utilised as a therapeutic strategy for Stargardt disease, an inherited retinal degeneration. Additionally, I explored the genetic architecture of mutations causing Stargardt disease in Ireland.
