      Project Geologist

Managed a large groundwater monitoring program from 2011 through 2015 which involved: communication with subcontractors, third party consultants, operation and maintenance staff, database and Geographical Information Systems staff, senior project management, and many other individuals in order to collect, compile, and process data for approximately 500 groundwater monitoring wells to produce and submit a quality quarterly monitoring report to the client and agency. Developed criteria and wrote a report that justified the reduction of the amount of wells sampled and the frequency of sampling events, resulting in significant cost savings to the client. Assisted the Project Manager with various coordination, communication, and data management responsibilities including: tasking junior staff with creating work plans, creating cost estimates, compiling various forms of data, and QA/QC of documents; interpreting historical reports, access agreements, boring logs and well completion information, and historical correspondence; creating figures and graphics for presentation to the client, third parties, regulators, as well as for internal use; and many other field and office tasks which are too numerous to name here. Project Manager, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division

I work in the Federal Facilities Unit of the Remediation Program in the Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. My primary role is to assist large scale active and inactive DoD installations through the RCRA and CERCLA framework. This work involves stakeholder (responsible parties, consultant/contractors, land developers, general public, federal and other regulatory members) engagement, review and approval of project documents, and review, interpretation, and implementation of CO Regulations. The scope of work for projects I manage varies substantially. The following is a brief summary of some of the projects I have been involved with so far:- PA/SI and RI for PFAS- Oversight of PFAS pilot studies for stabilization, removal, and destruction in various media- Chlorinated solvents (TCE, cis-1,2-DCE, VC) and 1,4-dioxane in groundwater. The groundwater plume is being treated via ERD and a pump and treat system designed to prevent offsite migration operates at the site boundary - Explosives and nitrate in soil and groundwater. Soil and groundwater is being treated through a combination of excavation, enhanced in-situ bioremediation, land use controls, and groundwater pump and treat. - Free mercury in soil. Initial remediation via excavation was not successful in complete treatment due to inaccurate initial assessment. Additional work is being planned. - Chlorinated solvents in USTs / soil. Tank removal and limited soil excavation planned. - Numerous RCRA permitted landfills requiring annual monitoring and inspections. - UXO. Numerous SWMUs that have been or are impacted with munitions are at various states of assessment, remediation, or NFA. - Regulated Asbestos Containing Soil. Oversaw a large excavation of RACS in multiple areas, including SWMUs with COCs that needed to be monitored and munitions concerns.- Potential migration of contaminated groundwater in or near private domestic wells.
