      Feb 2012 - Dec 2015

As Green Connect Leader in ArtyPlantz, I led a team of people to plan and execute events, presentations, and long-term projects aimed at connecting People to Plants. I was an integral part of the team that setup and ran Neralu - Bangalore's first tree festival. During this festival I created three audio walks (translated into two languages) that was listened to by over 8000 people from across the globe all of them finding it connected them deeply to the trees they were listening to. I also set up a monthly gathering at a local park where people came together to share their connection to Nature with each other. I spent this time exploring what nature connection does to all of us and where I am needed the most. My efforts reached an interesting conclusion when I realised that this next generation of Indians is growing up without anyone allowing them to explore and connect to Nature on thier own terms. This is where my project morphed into Growing in Nature (GRIN) which is now incubated on ArtyPlantz's platform. Show less

      Faculty - creative expressions

I developed, designed, delivered and assessed a creative expressions course for undergraduates titled, "Nature, Art and Human Beings." This was done twice, once with a class of 16 students and once with 20.Through embodied learning, we explored Ecopsychology, playing in nature, sensory practices, naturalist studies, theatre, and personal as well as societal level relationships with other-than-human beings. Each semester ended with a Mela or exhibition of a student projects. Each project was chosen by the individual students and represented a personal journey or enquiry for them. For example, we filled an entire wall with sketched of movement in nature, or created a piece of music inspired by alone time in nature. We even crafted a clay vessel, created a fire and made soup on it for everyone to taste. The course was designed to try and communicate these statements to the participants: 1. It is fundamental and peacemaking to acknowledge interconnection with more-than-human beings. 2. Your body, mind and self can learn, experience and celebrate these relationships in a beautiful, integrated manner.3. You are invited to share these experiences. They are cherished.4. Languages can be found to express these experiences - art and creativity fill this role when words become insufficient or restrictive. Show less
