      Senior Life Insurance Agent

Worked in small general agency in Pittsburgh, PA initially as an independent insurance agent. I worked with a select few companies including INA.I sold to individuals who needed additional insurance, or wanted to update their insurance products. During my 2 years with the organization I grew into a training agent for recently hired agents.Working with the agency management, I developed a lead generation system and scripted an introductory elevator speech to enable better access to potential clients.During this time I honed my sales skills, my insurance product knowledge, along with my training and leadership skills. I left the agency just prior to its dissolution. Show less

    • BISYS

      Mar 1990 - May 1999
Assistant Vice President & General Manager, Health Brokerage Division

As divisional leader, I ran an operation of approximately 50 people in two offices (Harrisburg, PA & New York, NY). We serviced multiple career agency companies, including AXA, Mutual of New York, Mass Mutual, Prudential, Metropolitan and others for sponsored relationships with third party insurance carriers. Our operation wrote approximately $140 MM in new annualized premium each year and grossed approximately $10 MM in revenues.I was instrumental in negotiating the career distribution company relationships - negotiating available products and companies (based on partner's E&O requirements), compensation (partner agents and the applicable management chain), along with terms and conditions of the legal contracts.Another key contribution to BISYS include mergers and acquisitions. Working with the CEO, I provided detailed analysis of the target organization - agent distribution, current and trended income, contract provision (vesting, etc.). Once the transaction was completed, I worked with the new entity to integrate them into the BISYS structure. My responsibilities also included managing the monthly and annual budgets for the Health Division, coordinating with the corporate CFO.During my tenure, I developed relationships with over ninety (90) insurance companies to provide our career distribution partners with individual/group health plans, group ancillary products (Group Life, etc.), and individual disability plans. The BISYS Health Brokerage Division routinely out performed the industry in terms of persistency and claims ratios.Year over year, the quality of the division was evident in the near zero percent turnover, annual production growth, and bottom line profit. Compared to the much larger life insurance division, the Health Division often produce five to ten times the EBIDTA per employee.Lectured annually at Hershey Medical Center for parents with diabetic children - obtaining insurance, underwriting and pending legislation.
