  In 2009 I undertook a new challenge as a trainee surveyor within the HCC Housing Investment Service (HIS). Over the next 4 years I worked within the many HIS departments including planned external and internal schemes, repair and maintenance, asset management and long term void. As well as gaining the knowledge I had an input into many of these departments and the schemes I have been involved in. I began to attend Hull College in 2009 to achieve an ONC in construction and the built environment which I gained a double merit grade as well as an award for the most outstanding learner. I have since continued and completed a HNC in construction and the built environment where I gained a merit grade. I am currently working towards a HND in construction and the built environment which is the next step in my journey to achieving a degree in construction management. Show less I have been employed solely by Hull City Council (HCC) from apprentice through to my current role of Project officer. The majority of my employment has been as a tradesman working to meet the HCC Decent Homes and building regulation specifications. I have also worked modifying and adapting council properties for the elderly and disabled within the council adaptations team.In 2001 I began working for the HCC uPVC installations team where I learnt many new skills and gained an extensive knowledge of the many property types. The work involved the safe and methodical removal and installation of windows and doors to meet the HCC Decent Homes and building regulation specifications. Show less

  I am currently a project officer a role which has enabled me to become involved in planning and organising both major and minor works to council property working closely with the partner contractors. I have been involved in planning and organising major projects which involve converting existing properties both residential and non residential into one bedroom dwellings which meet the demand for more smaller properties which are in high demand at this time.Having worked closely with contractors I am aware of the difficulties that can arise from this way of working, and I feel that I have a good relationship with everyone I have worked with.During my current HNC/HND studies I have investigated extensively the theory and practices required for effective management of teams and individuals.
