  Completed a research project investigating the viability of producing biofuels such as syngas and biodiesel from the marine microalgal species Tetraselmis suecica. The findings were presented in September at the International Conference and Exhibition on Clean Energy 2013. In addition an extensive literature review and formal scientific report were written.The project covered the following areas:-Cultivation of the microalgal species to investigate the growth rate of Tetra S. under different conditions,-Refitting an outdoor growth rig with a new gas-delivery system,-Harvesting and concentrating algal suspensions for drying-Dewatering and drying the solutions- Using a Thermogravimetric Analyser to subject the algae to Pyrolysis and Gasification- Analyzing the char from pyrolysis and gasification for mineral composition- Determining rate law coefficients for pyrolysis of the sample-CHNS analysis of the ash samples Show less
