  Along with the work of being a member of the team I am in charge of overseeing and organizing the construction process of our five foot tall balsa wood tower. I work with the teams Design Lead and fellow Construction Leads, to optimally plan and execute constructionof our building. This includes creating all necessary pieces and/or templates for hand cutting pieces, creating piece keys using AutoCAD where members can see where certain pieces have to be placed in the buildings design, and teaching new members our teams construction methods. I conduct two to three construction shifts a week, which are two hours long where three to four team members work on construction. Show less

  Mix magnetorheological fluids and perform experiments to simulate filling cracks in deteriorating concrete structures based on fluid properties, crack properties, and magnetic field strength. Perform tests on metal fibers in fluid to determine the magnetic field strength required to orient magnetic fibers optimally in a wet concrete specimen. Assist in 3D printing of large-scale concrete structures. Proofread and revise final research papers.

  Modeled existing structures using SAFE, ETABS, and SAP 2000. Performed calculations for concrete punching shear, concrete in flexure, steel beam penetrations, and plate girders. Designed timber deck system, steel monumental staircase, steel pipe racks, Unistrut risers for strength and vibration and designed steel to concrete anchorage using Hilti Profis. Visited construction sites to approve beam penetrations and ensure construction documents are adhered to.
