Orchestrate maintenance, mod programs, and activities for 12 MH-65 aircraft that conduct joint Coast Guard (USCG)/Department of Defense (DoD) strategic missions in the Caribbean and East Pacific. Certify airworthiness of local maintenance; coordinate depot-level repairs with the USCG Aviation Logistics Center (ALC). Plan and execute maintenance program objectives. Provide or facilitate training in areas such as developmental and technical training. Oversaw 75K maintenance labor hours over five shifts. - Restructured divisional staffing to align existing skills with specific maintenance demands and ebbs in daily flight schedules achieving a more effective and efficient workforce. - Applied Lean principles to the ALC Business Performance Branch identifying 19 process improvements.- Work closely with Technical Services and engineers from Airbus performing airframe repairs. Developed a process for quicker approval for an airframe repair by drafting repair plan and sending it to Technical Services. Typical process was to send pictures of damage, wait for Technical Services to draft a repair plan, and send to Airbus for approval. Faster approval accomplished by drafting engineering drawings for review.- Reversed a 22% aircraft availability decline.- Supported relief operations for three major hurricanes; 11K lives saved or assisted.- Supervise a workforce of 150+ military, civilian, and contractor employees. Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance. - Formally recognized 40 employees for successes in 2018.- Collaborated with a local college to provide a FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification pipeline; 30 employees currently seeking advanced education.- Lauded for creating an environment of respect and feedback.- Increased training capacity by 14%.- Train team leaders to build supervisory and technical oversight skills, grooming those showing potential for promotions or additional responsibilities. Show less Managed aircraft maintenance production to meet operational requirements and technical standards for six MH-65D aircraft at two locations. Using Lean Six Sigma principles, recommended procedural and technical improvements and modifications. Scheduled aircraft and resources to ensure required readiness. Enforced technical standards. Ensured a properly trained workforce. Budgeted and allocated resources to control costs and meet operational tasks. Led and directed a military and civilian workforce of 70 personnel via 9 supervisors.- Restructured aircraft maintenance process using Lean techniques. Developed a plan using Six Sigma process to show we could complete all maintenance packages at one time. This process reduced aircraft down time from six weeks per aircraft per year to three weeks, reduction of 50% down time per year. Also realized an improvement in the labor hour cost per flight hour of aircraft. Almost 13K labor hours were saved per year at a 6 aircraft unit. Process was adopted by other USCG Air Stations.- The Pacific Area Admiral asked for a plan to support all Search and Rescue operations from south of Los Angeles to North of San Francisco if Air Station Los Angeles closes. Working with the Operations Officer, drafted the plan that resulted in the closure of Air Station Los Angeles, combing of assetss, resources and area of response. - Planned and executed 86K+ labor hours in a one-year period.- Enabled safe execution of 3540 flight hours supporting 266 Search and Rescue missions.- Held contractor accountable for significant aircraft damage after personally uncovering damage. Identified $93K in damages and delivered detailed analysis for legal claim.- - Stood up and developed heavy maintenance teams.- Developed first MH-65 unit Functional Flight Check Syllabus. Qualified three unit pilots.- Lauded as an “open-minded, progressive, and inspiring leader that established an excellent unit culture through an eagerness to develop personnel.” Show less
