'Being Brilliant scheme' - Access to university style education in conjunction with the University of Nottingham. Assigned a PhD tutor from the University of Reading who specialised in poetry and music. The programme took me outside of my comfort zone as I wrote a dissertation styled paper regarding poetry and black culture and the relationship between the subject matter, poetry and music. • Rolls-Royce

      Jul 2020 - Sept 2020
      Summer Intern

Summer internship with the University of Birmingham Magnetic Materials group sponsored by Rolls Royce. Over the course of the summer I was responsible for creating an intuitive and comprehensive database populated with recent literature regarding samarium cobalt 2:17 type magnets. Specifically the data gathered pertained to the how to optimise the magnetic properties of SmCo 2:17 type magnets through varying their composition and the processing routes used to synthesise the magnets. Upon the completion of this database I conducted an in depth literature review of the literature gathered, which was then presented to my supervisor as my final report. Over the course of the internship I also presented my findings to the relevant members of the research group at regular intervals in weekly meetings and engaged in discussion with researchers in the magnetics group regarding the subject matter, offering my insight where applicable.
