  Prior to joining REC, I was employed by Waste Recycling Group (WRG) where I was responsible for the environmental monitoring of two large domestic waste landfill sites in the south east. My duties included weekly perimeter groundwater sampling and ground gas monitoring, surface emission monitoring and the assessment of monitoring infrastructure. I also was responsible for taking leachate samples from the on waste leachate abstraction wells.

  My current role is that of Principal Consultant and Work Group Manager for Opus International Consultants Ltd, a multi-disciplinary engineering, transport and asset management consultancy based in their Manchester office. My primary roles and responsibilities include project management, client liaison, business development, technical support and day to day management of the geo-environmental team.During my 10 years in the environmental industry I have designed site investigations on a diverse range of industrial land-uses including gas works, filling stations, refineries and landfill sites. I have also gained extensive experience in environmental risk assessment with regards to both human health and controlled waters.Through formal training with the Association of Project Management, I have developed my project management skills which has allowed me to develop a proven track record in successful project delivery.I also have significant experience of the management of asbestos containing materials and have extensive experience of assessing risk associated with asbestos in the soil and developing suitable remediation options. I recent co-authored a presentation on Asbestos in the soils, which was delivered via a webinar to the UK environmental leaders within Opus. This presentation highlighted the legislation, risks, safe investigation practices and remediation options available to environmental practitioners.Notable projects have included: supervision and validation of a multi-million pound asbestos remediation in the north-west, investigation and remediation of a number of former fuel retail stations which were significantly impacted with hydrocarbons (including one site less than 50m from a Grade A river) and the technical lead in the delivery and review of a series of detailed quantitative risk assessments (DQRA) at industrial sites on the banks of the River Thames.
