    • Lamar University

      May 2012 - Aug 2012
      Archival and Research Intern

As a member of the Future Leaders summer internship (sponsored by Exxon Mobil), I interned with Lamar University, with the Library Special Collections and Archives Department. I worked directly under the co-directors of the department, and I organized, preserved, and scanned the John Tveten Collection, which had been recently donated to the University. As part of my tasks, I also served as a liaison for the university and represented the archival information available for students, faculty, and staff at Lamar University. Show less

      Aug 2014 - Nov 2015
      Student Assistant

As a member of the Phonathon team, I reached out to alumni of Georgia Tech for donations to the annual Roll Call program, Georgia Tech's annual academic fund. I have raised (to date) over $20,000 from over 300 alumni for Roll Call. With this program, I also attended and worked events for alumni, as well as calling to thank alumni for gifts and continue the line of communication with alumni after the donation has been accepted.

    • Georgia Tech School of Public Policy

      Apr 2015 - Aug 2017
      Undergraduate Research Assistant

I worked under Dr. Mary Frank Fox and the Center for Women, Science & Technology. As part of the Women in Science and Technology team, I managed the Mary Frank Fox team website and Georgia Tech's Ivan Allen College ADVANCE page, using Adobe Dreamweaver and HTML. With this project, I also organized communications with former team members and faculty, including hosting twice-yearly luncheons. As a part of the Transmissions teams, I worked with a group of graduate students and post-graduate women to create and maintain databases, utilize reports and analyzed data, and maintain website and lab protocol, using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and SPSS. I used Nvivo and Vantage Point software to analyze key phrases of abstracts in the Transmissions Database. This culminated in the selection of my work for presentation in Georgia Tech's Undergraduate Research Symposium, as shown below, and a publication in Science, Technology, & Human Values. Show less

    • Helena Laboratories Corporation

      Jun 2016 - Jan 2017
      Pre-Production Intern

I worked as an intern during summer 2016 coordinating between Production and Research&Development to improve different types of gel electrophoresis plates, through changes in concentrations, use of new materials, and plate pouring technology. I maintained laboratory records, learned and followed FDA and DEA regulations, and presented my findings in technical reports for plate improvements to R&D Department directors. My projects included working towards solutions to reduce gamma folding for Spife Split Beta product, resolve light refraction on all Spife gels, and replacement of expensive glass pouring plates to Plexa. I also had the opportunity to focus on manufacturing and lead a scale-up on the production floor for a new gel blend. I returned to my internship for winter break (December 2016-January 2017). I worked on a validation project with Production, pouring plates and analyzing the success of modified backing for the gel plates. I managed all documentation and communication with Manufacturing management, as well as scheduling for testing of the gels and delivery. Show less

      Aug 2016 - Dec 2016
      Teaching Assistant
    • Alcon

      Oct 2017 - now

I managed a focused group of highly skilled engineers to execute on automation projects for the manufacturing of Alcon IOLs. These projects range from re-capitalization projects (Willemin Mills replacing automills) to enabling technology (no-touch fixtures that reduce wagon wheel costs and handling defects) to transfers of R&D developed technology into manufacturing-ready systems (V-IOL for wet metrology of multi-focal lenses, an automated cosmetic inspection system). We worked closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation into manufacturing, quick validation, and seamless integration with our maintenance and sustaining engineering group. I reported as often as bi-weekly to key stakeholders within and outside of the Huntington, WV site.In addition to managing the automation portfolio, I also developed the strategy for the future of automation at the site over the next five years. I managed the CAPEX reporting for department projects and implemented a reporting mechnism to understand critical spend for these projects. Show less I worked to reach site goals for CIP savings by streamlining site project tracker with financial targets and established a process to achieve $400,000 annual savings in material supplier-driven improvement initiatives. I ran Kaizen events for key areas of improvement for site in line with annual goals and developed site-wide product-process family matrices. Connecting to my experience as a production supervisor, I led training for operators and hourly associates in Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training. Over 60 associates attended the training, and 25 ultimately completed lean projects to demonstrate their new knowledge. As a targeted project for the role, I managed the cross-functional project to move all ITC production documents from Windchill to Veeva systems, leading multi-engineer team and managing over 800 document implementations in SAP. Show less I managed 30+ DL associates across three product lines (LenSx, ORA, and PurePoint) to meet monthly production targets 3 days ahead of month end, developed quarterly cross-training plan across Photonics production lines. I lead the team to submit and execute the most desired improvements and near miss/good catch submissions for the site. I also improved product line utilization by 2% across Photonics. As part of this role, I executed projects to re-layout and move in PurePoint production line to Photonics cleaner room, to streamline show unit return process in SAP, and to redesign and reissue work station-based shop floor training curricula.*1st rotation in Alcon's RADAR program Show less I reviewed and approved nonconformance investigations and CAPAS, updated SOPs, and lead triages. As part of larger, cross-functional team, xecuted projects to create data maps for the site, reduce loss of lidding material in shipping, improve primary packaging supplier manufacturing process, and support move from manual to electronic DHR release system. In this role, I worked across Lightstream 1 and Lightstream 3 platforms to lead triages, execute quality inspections, create NCI/DCT, and support continuous production as on-line product quality engineer. I also developed dashboards to track unreleased and finished goods quarantine holds, streamlined new employee training, and wrote validation to implement Captiva records scanners to relieve site of $350,000 record storage space.
