      Developed strategic initiatives to increase community engagement and outreach and provided guidance to the Mayor and City Councilmembers, City Administrator, City departments, and City staff in organizational structure, communications, public affairs, in areas vital to the City of Yuma and the greater Yuma community. Developed and led an award-winning team of 15 full and part-time communications and customer service professionals, to revamp, organize, and manage the City's communications and public affairs effort; developing targeted outreach programs to improve relationships with the local and regional media and better inform citizens of community issues. Succeeded in passing a renewal of Yuma's Hospitality Tax (after an earlier defeat) and secured Congressional designation of the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area. Continuously met with community members to enhance relationships, and facilitate projects such as revamped special events programs and community outreach programs for local nonprofit organizations. Brought together nearly 20,000 area school children and community volunteers as the Project Leader for the Stewart Vincent Wolfe Creative Playground, a project that over a two-year design and 10-day build constructed one of the largest playgrounds of its kind in the country. Awarded Hermes®, Western Access Video Excellence (W.A.V.E), Hometown Video, Savvy, and Silver Circle awards, for video programming and community outreach, after developing the community's first Government Access television channels, with original content/programming that included 30 second Public Service Announcements to 30-minute news programs, special features and full hour magazine format interview shows. Official Spokesman for the City of Yuma organization and standing member of the community's Emergency Operation Center (EOC), providing information to citizens and media outlets in emergencies.
