At NAST, I carried out my MS thesis research project as an intern as well as another independent project as a Research associate after graduation.

    • Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio

      Aug 2018 - now

In this role, I not only identified and communicated student issues in my discipline (CGM) to the IBMS Student Council (made of student representatives from all disciplines of Integrated Biomedical Sciences program), but also proposed new ideas for the welfare of students, which were then communicated to Graduate School leadership for resolution. Completion of my Qualifying Exam led me to the candidacy. As a PhD candidate, I not only added many new skillsets in my toolbox including experimental design and planning, data analysis, manuscript/grant writing, collaboration and networking, science communication, mentoring, and leadership but also brushed up my existing set of skills to become a highly independent scientist. In this role, I gained valuable skills to set me up for my dissertation project including experimental designing, research proposal writing, effective communication and presentation as well as the foundational technical skills such as mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, immunoblotting, heterologous protein expression/purification and RT-qPCR.
