  This program focuses on egg and meat production of ducks and helping to create market linkage to increase income and employment in the Haor region. With proper ecological and economic planning, duck production can be a sustainable and profitable source of income. FIVDB forms Duck Farmer Groups and hatcheries to accelerate production among poor households in the region. The value chain project introduces new varieties of ducks and develops a feed, vaccine and medicine supply chain to vulnerable villages where duck populations were difficult to sustain. Participating duck farmers help construct and attend the Duck Centre, where they learn to establish business plans and access finance opportunities with private companies.Some of the key activities done during the project period are mentioned below: - Duck Farmer Group formation and strengthening- Duck production acceleration among poorest households-Commercial production of duckling through Duck Hatchery-Duck Service Provider (DSP) development- Introduction of new verities of duck-Provide ICT based advisory services- Promote access to finance-Establishment of (including developing a business plan and capital support) and functioning Duck Centre-Business Development Support for Duck Centre- Develop duck feed supply chain-Develop duck vaccine and medicine supply chain-Develop business partnership with private companies - Market promotionThe table below summarizes Other activities-- Sample collection and sending. -Disease diagnosis and provide treatment. - Disease prevalence.   Duties & Responsibilities1. Key focus of livestock extension services will be development of community groups, community-based facilitators, community planning and implementation of development actions based on demand. 2. Establish and Support farmer’s interest groups and producers' associations, and to facilitate private sector linkages.3. Establish community-based farmer facilitators (e.g. village-based animal health worker, farmer field school facilitator, village group leaders, etc.).4. Organize on site trainings for the livestock farmers mainly in Farmer filed School (FFS) model in close coordination with stakeholders.5. Closely work with other extension workers (Agriculture and livestock) of the project to ensure quality service, cooperation and coordination.6. Assist farmer groups to identify priority Extension and Agricultural development issues and formulate community-based action plans.7. Ensuring that gender-mainstreamed in all livestock activities, ensure the implementation of all gender targets, ensure the inclusion of activities of interest for women such as food preparation, milk production, processing, storage, etc.8. Ensuring to establish livestock value chain (input & output delivery).9. Follow the seasonal calendar for conducting such trainings.10. Collection of data on production and productivity, processing of livestock products, breed improvement, feeding, forage production/conservation, involvement of male and female farmers in management and marketing, of livestock products etc.11. Keep all the record of activities.12. Help male or female extension workers and farmers to plan and implement the livestock activities.13. It is a field-based position. So, 80 % time in field and should be ready to travel to field and conduct the meeting in the field to the livestock farmer groups.14. Participate in stakeholders’ meetings. Show less
