  At Hospice, I counseled adults and children who had recently suffered a great loss. I counseled both groups and individuals, providing appropriate documentation and treatment plans. I happened to start my rotation In September of 2001 and learned quickly as the clients streamed in post 9-11. At Cathedral House, I counseled adults individually and in groups to sustain their recently obtained sobriety. The clientele was inner-city and included multiple ethnic groups, many with co-existing diagnoses. In addition to chemical dependency counseling,I also provided life skills and job preparation training geared toward improving their lives and maintaining sobriety beyond what was previously possible for them.   Chief patient advocate and health navigator for my father as his health and vitality declined. I oversaw his care and recovery through 4 surgeries, persistent minor ailments and chronic disease. When I assisted my mother's death a decade earlier, I was home for 4 days, when I assisted my father with his decline, I ended up being with him for 6 years. Nothing is more motivating to me than family.
