      Rob was the chief pharmacist for the Ministry of Defence. This strategic planning role in the MOD involved working cross-Government and with other external agencies, including international organisations e.g. NATO.He provided strategic and operational leadership in the promotion, application and development of Medicines Optimisation principles across all sectors of the Ministry of Defence including 170 medical centres through delegation, innovation and empowerment, requiring an excellent strategic outlook and working knowledge of medicine law to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Managed, developed and led all pharmacy personnel in the MOD and advised the Medical Executive on future strategy of the MOD pharmacy profession. Appointed Deputy Controlled Dugs Accountable Officer with responsibility to ensure that the MOD adheres to legislation and represents the MOD at LINs and other external meetings.Facilitated and led multi-disciplinary teams to effectively analyse, manage change and learn from significant events and identify and manage the risks associated with medicine use as the Medication Safety Officer for the Ministry of Defence.       Rob leads and manages a team of pharmacist specialists and medicines inspectors across the South of England. He supports the Head of Medicines Optimisation by providing expert pharmaceutical advice on the safe management and effective use of medicines and input into the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC’s) regulatory, inspection and investigation activity. Rob was a pharmacist specialist inspector with the CQC, providing specialist pharmacy and medicines optimisation advice to inspection teams across all sectors of healthcare.
