      While at Oakland Hills Country Club, I began as an assistant superintendent and progressively moved up over a 9-year period to serve as the North Course Superintendent and finally the South Course Superintendent. As the Superintendent of the championship South Course, I hosted prestigious tournaments and oversaw the entire property in absence of the Director of Agronomy. Highlights:‒ Led on-time completion of multi-million-dollar Hills & Forrest-designed North Course renovation in collaboration with 6 contractors‒ Initiated improvements to internship program such as proactive outreach, effective interviews, and implementation of weekly learning experiences, resulting in recruitment and retention of quality talent‒ Planned and directed golf course maintenance practices during 2016 U.S. Amateur on South Course; oversaw ~80 employees and volunteers and ensured an exceptional tournament experience and playing conditions‒ During 2008 PGA Championship, led ~25 employees and volunteers and managed upkeep on North Course practice facility; served as quadrant captain and oversaw and maintained designated South Course section throughout tournament‒ Enhanced team morale and output for 60+ employees, including H2B visa participants, by cross-training, ensuring accountability, and implementing cookouts and other team-building activities, leading to strong relationships, life-long friendships, and high retention‒ Reduced expenditures 5-30% through strategic bidding and selection of chemical and fertilizer purchases and decreased labor by effectively monitoring employee hours and overtime based on needs and weather Show less
