      Project Manager

I was responsible for the Project Management of a project to archive and migrate finance data from 13 Legacy systems onto one archive repository. The project team were split across the two main RBS sites (London and Edinburgh). It was therefore a challenge to motivate and enable effective cross team communication. This role required me to build trust in my team and use clear delegation of activities & deliverables. The Project was run with PRINCE2 principles, with a clear emphasis on up to date plans, risk mitigation and issue management. The archive solution used Business Objects and was delivered on time and within budget.Whilst at RBS I was also responsible for running a Feasibility study which was investigating ledger anomalies with accrued interest. I used previous analysis skills and helped develop the skills of the analyst assigned to this task. This feasibility study did not become a development project as the business benefits identified could not justify the costs in the Business case. Show less

I really enjoyed working at the ESFA as part of DfE. It's a very professional organisation and I was lucky enough to work on the Apprenticeship Service.I was Delivery Manager / Scrum master on several different teams during my time there. It's a great place to deliver software and business change in an agile way as the organisation as a whole has bought into the agile way of working. As Delivery Manager my role was to pull together multi disciplinary teams, work with, coach and facilitate the setting up of appropriate ways of working to ensure our team could deliver software that satisfied user needs and added value.Although working in an agile way to deliver value to the business iteratively, we were often under intense pressure to deliver features by specific deadlines. For this it was key that I had defined with the Product Owner and wider team, a feature delivery roadmap and supporting sprint delivery plan.Key Project deliveriesResponsible for the timely delivery of the ESFA apprenticeship employer Incentive payment which has supported employers through the Covid pandemic.Built the award nominated www.apprenticeships.gov.uk DfE website supporting the Fire-it-Up marketing campaign. • HM Prison and Probation Service

      Sept 2021 - Oct 2023
      Project Delivery Manager

My first project at HMPPS was to design and build a new service that makes it much easier to create and vary licences for prisoners who are leaving prison, or who need licence conditions changing. Creating an easy solution to manage licence conditions should make it easier for operational staff to set the right conditions for a prisoner's needs. This in turn should make it safer for the general public. My second project at HMPPS, involved the organisation & management of a large multiskilled team with the vision & scope to deliver a new GDS web service which supported the efficient allocation of prisoners to activities. This in turn would aid their rehabilitation and hopefully reduce re-offending. The project has been successfully managed through the discovery, alpha and private beta GDS phases, with full GDS assessment at the end of the alpha phase. It was enjoyable and motivating to work on products that were making a positive difference for the community. Information Technology Delivery Manager

Support, coaching and delivery management of a multi skilled team. The team were responsible for the delivery of the user facing features of a programme that exchanged tax information with other counties. My contribution to the team was to introduce elements of best practice learnt elsewhere (e.g. feature planning ). My biggest challenge was to bring together a team which was largely unhappy due to continuous organisational changes. I progressed and helped achieve this through supporting other team members when they needed help ( e.g Creating stories and running elaboration when the BA was off for several weeks ). I also ran ‘Ways of working’ sessions so everyone was on the same page. I wanted everyone in the team to feel more of a team, so I tried to run fun (non work) things, just to bring people together. I’m leaving this team a much happier place than when I joined it. Show less
