  This was my very first job experience, and I enjoyed teaching younger fellows a lot! At that time, I was a teaching assistant in the area of Statistics Applied to Engineering. Moreover, I shared my knowledge by teaching how to apply statistics by using common powerful tools such as Matlab and MS Excel.

  It was a brief and wonderful experience to work on road engineering! At that time, I measured and estimated actual and future traffic on a specific road for the design of a future road.

  This job took me through the construction of natural gas distribution networks. More than 1,600 meters of pipelines were installed with a wonderful team of about 20 people! In this position, I had the opportunity to contribute to the design and analysis of the civil works needed for the construction of natural gas distribution pipelines. Specifically, I supported the design and analysis of technical rooms along the pipelines, the excavation and placement of pipes, and the definition of the budget, work planning, and control during the construction phase.

  This was a great time studying the transition of granular materials from stable to unstable, like soil or rock slides, and understanding the driving carachteristics in the flow mechanics for the assessment of flow velocity and runout distance. My approach here was through a physical laboratory model, and both empirical and analytical models were tested to predict the runout distance.

  This job experience was amazing! Having the opportunity to share knowledge and ideas is priceless. In this position, I was committed to giving lectures on soil mechanics and geology for engineers. Activities such as guiding students in geotechnical laboratory tests and on-site visits to different sites of geological interest were also included.

  Research engineer

  This has been an amazing time to study landslides! I worked on a project to investigate the landslide runout distance in the northeastern Andean region of Colombia. This allowed me to guide a multidisciplinary research team of geologists and engineers to generate empirical models aimed at improving existing mathematical models for this region.
