  My work included working with TATA, BOSCH Services and Mercedes-Benz, for Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC, which represent the parent company presence in Sri Lanka. My responsibilities included analysing vehicles for mechanical problems and recommending repairs or possible solutions, investigating the cause of a failing differential, designing new components such, as a removable panel on a flatbed truck and improving a failing pneumatic clutch pump mounting bracket. Further working with stores department gave me experience on inventory taking, using daily reports to predict inventory movements and putting inventory items on sale before depreciation. I further got the chance to get hands on mechanical experience carrying out services, repairs on vehicles and on various diesel pumps including common rail systems. Work as a service advisor involved many responsibilities such as solving problems on time and keeping up with customer expectations. My work was not restricted to one department which was a very good opportunity to see and learn how different departments of a professional body functions. Show less
