  I am responsible for developing and executing the Council’s strategic communications and managing CGCS’s communications team. I also work closely with communication directors in the Council’s 76-member school districts to provide consultation and resources to support local and regional efforts. Writing: Write, edit, and proofread print and digital content, including serving as the editor of the award-winning monthly digital newsletter the “Urban Educator.” Media Relations: Serve as first point of contact for press requests, coordinates press inquiries and writes press releases. Cultivate relationships with media outlets to help position CGCS as a go-to source on urban education.Social Media/Website: Lead content strategy and engagement for the Council’s social media channels and oversee CGCS’s presence on the website. Event Planning: Organize annual three-day professional development conference for communication directors in urban school districts. Plan an award ceremony honoring the nation’s top urban educator and coordinate a Town Hall meeting at the Council’s Annual Fall Conference in October.
