      - MTHIS is a Department of Defense (DOD) research program focused on developing new technologies in support of medical training and health information technologies.- Create strategic documents outlining the goals and future direction of the research program. These documents are vetted through senior leadership as well as congress; and are instrumental in securing and augmenting program funding. - Develop, review, and coordinate request for proposals (RFP) released to the public focused on development of new products and technologies.- Review proposals for scientific merit, feasibility, strategic relevance, and potential return on investment. - Coordinate with various offices within DOD and Military Health System (MHS) to facilitate business processes. These actions include: RFP development, proposal tracking, scientific review coordination, funding recommendations, facilitation of contract award, in-progress management and review, project continuation recommendations, and transition of research to appropriate end user, commercialization, or publication. - Analyze daily work-flow to identify and correct inefficiencies.- Maintain MTHIS research budget by tracking daily activity, monitoring for problems, and coordinating changes as necessary. Budget management includes: development of future funding requirements, coordination with DOD comptroller to confirm appropriate funds are allocated to our office, tracking appropriated funds from congress, and maintaining oversight of funds within our program.- Organize and implement in-progress reviews of ongoing research projects and provide strategic and programmatic guidance to ensure project alignment with the needs of the DOD.
