      Activities and Societies: Member of the Liverpool University Ju Jitsu Club (LUJJC) My PhD involved the computational study of turbulent combustion in stratified inhomogeneous mixtures. A type of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation called Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) was used to obtain detailed information on the behaviour of the flame-turbulence interaction across a range of parameters including initial turbulence intensity, mean global equivalence ratio and the level of mixture inhomogeneity. The information obtained from the DNS data was used to develop new… Show more My PhD involved the computational study of turbulent combustion in stratified inhomogeneous mixtures. A type of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation called Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) was used to obtain detailed information on the behaviour of the flame-turbulence interaction across a range of parameters including initial turbulence intensity, mean global equivalence ratio and the level of mixture inhomogeneity. The information obtained from the DNS data was used to develop new high-fidelity models for turbulent stratified mixture combustion that can be used for the design of higher efficiency, lower emission combustion devices.The research led to a number of peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings. Additionally, the subsequent PhD Thesis was awarded the 2011 Robert F. Legget Prize for Most Distinguished Thesis in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Liverpool. Show less

      From September 2011 to July 2012 I worked as a University Lecturer in the School of Engineering, University of Liverpool. I was responsible for delivering the Year 3 Heat Transfer (MECH301) and Year 4 Computational Fluid Dynamics (MECH418) modules. I was also responsible for examining a number of final-year projects in the School of Engineering from Mechanical and Aerospace disciplines. During this time period I continued my research into turbulent premixed and stratified combustion which led to a number of published peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings. Show less From March 2011 to September 2011 I worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher within the Fluids Engineering Group in the School of Engineering, University of Liverpool. I continued my research into the analysis of turbulent premixed and stratified combustion using Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) to develop novel models for high-fidelity simulations.       Senior Staff Professional

      From September 2012 to January 2018, I worked as a Senior Staff Professional at MMI Engineering. I was involved predominantly in consulting work for Gas Dispersion Analyses, Fire Detection Studies, Fire Modelling and Conjugate Heat Transfer Problems on onshore and offshore installations using a range of CFD software products including Ansys CFX, GexCon FLACS and ComputIT KFX. I was also involved in projects requiring the use of CFD techniques to determine the operational envelope of helicopter landings on oil platforms and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning studies on oil platform facilities. Additionally, I continued my collaboration with the Combustion Research Group at the University of Newcastle in the position of a visiting researcher, leading to a number of published peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings.
