      Gymnastics coach

As a coach, I worked with four to six-year-olds, leading stretches, demonstrating techniques, helping them work through complex moves, and ultimately improving their motor skills, such as: balance, coordination, and flexibility. Perhaps even more important; however, I helped students cope with the small failures one often encounters in athletics. In addition, I acted as a role model to the students by demonstrating and encouraging timeliness, respect, discipline, and kindness.

In this role I assist faculty members with setting up of laboratory for courses in the Biological Sciences. Duties include handling of specimens, preparing media and chemical solutions, cleaning glassware and other tasks as needed by the faculty member. In this program I am assigned mentees who are also biology majors. I guide them through the year and become a helpful resource for incoming students. I decided to take on this role because I have an amazing mentor who gave me great wisdom. I wanted to do the same for others because I know how hard the transition can be.
