Jun 2008 - Oct 2014Human rights - child protection and field officerAs a Human Rights Officer, I have followed human rights developments. I organised training on human rights, gender, peace and non-violence. I set up human rights reporting tools. I have helped build the capacity of civil society, local communities and people on human rights. I carry out advocacy and capacity building activities in the field of human rights. I collected information, analysed and reported on the human rights situation in several parts of the country, including through close cooperation with other civil society actors and the community. As a child protection officer, I contributed to the protection of children in conflict with law and street children. I conducted programmes for their social reintegration, such as resumption of school, return to their families or foster families, training, always looking after their best interests. I used specific child protection tools such as the Formal Best Interest Determination (BID) and the Best Interest Assessment (BIA). I have implemented induction and training programmes on child rights and child protection. I identified protection issues, trends and responses related to children. I have monitored and reported violations against children including GBV. I set up a sustainable system for managing and filtering information collected from the field. I successfully advocated for an alternative to juvenile incarceration and raised awareness on lynching. As a Field Officer, from 2007 to 2015, I set up local branches in central and northern Togo (Kara, Dapaong and Sokodé). I made regular field visits to monitor child protection and human rights activities. I monitored the implementation of programmes and projects in the field. I provided expertise in strategic planning of needs and contributed to the training of stakeholders on peacebuilding and human rights. I documented and reported on all issues related to human rights and child protection. I developed a sense of responsibility, proactivity, drive and motivation. Show less

I also ensured the integration of human rights into planning and programming. I helped to conduct human rights capacity-building activities and to develop and implement human rights training programmes. I research and collect information related to human rights issues, including their gender dimensions, from various data sources. I assist in the analysis of information, to include the impact on the human rights situation. I keep abreast of current human rights issues, including relevant policy and legal developments. I Conducted regular field visits, for programme evaluation, problem solving, monitoring and reporting on protection issues for migrants and internally displaced persons, including issues related to, inter alia, exploitation and abuse, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), unaccompanied and separated children, abusive or arbitrary detention, forced resettlement and human trafficking. I learned the legal instruments of international protection, namely the international, regional and national conventions specific to refugees. I was also introduced to human rights, international humanitarian law and the law of refugees, asylum seekers, child protection and displaced persons. I assisted the protection service in receiving and listening to refugees and asylum seekers. I attended 12 eligibility sessions for refugee status. I attended RSD and resettlement interviews. I also worked in the field, notably in the refugee camp of Avépozo and in the north of the country. I listened to and sensitized the refugees on their rights and duties. I identified specific protection issues such as sexual and gender-based violence, rights violations and legal procedures. I assisted the office resettlement officer in interviewing and assessing resettlement cases. I participated in the organization of training workshops on international protection, statelessness, refugee rights and duties, and the durable solutions forum. I attended sessions of the Refugee Eligibility Commission. I was entrusted with the organisation of training workshops for different stakeholders (PoCs, host communities, government officials involved in refugee management such as judges, civil society and the private sector). I organised these workshops by systematically integrating the AGD approach and respecting the time and budget constraints. I wrote the reports for each activity done during my internship. Show less

I approached the question of the reception of asylum seekers in 3 steps:- the legal and social care of asylum seekers.- the problems and challenges related to the reception of asylum seekers -Solutions and recommendations to improve the reception of asylum seekers in Togo.I carried out a real scientific work based on research, analysis, synthesis, writing and the concrete proposal of actions to be undertaken. This work allowed me to review the various international, regional and national legal instruments in this area.
