  The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council invests in world-class bioscience research and training to further scientific knowledge and promote economic growth, wealth and job creation. While pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, I joined North Wyke Research, a global research facility that is part of the BBSRC program, as an Undergraduate Researcher where I had the opportunity to further develop my skill set and gain hands-on experience.

  Established in 1990, the Museu da Eletricidade is a cultural center that presents the evolution of Energy by blending the concepts of a Science Museum and Industrial Archaeology, featuring themed and experimental exhibits and a variety of cultural events. While pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, I joined the Museu da Eletricidade to work mostly as a guide. I also had the opportunity to develop work as an instructor of the “Energy and Environment” module given to company trainees, as well as participate in projects that included themes that ranged from wave power plants to electric vehicles. To date, it has developed over 900 projects for clients around the world, including Intel, Disney, Vodafone, Coca-Cola, Santander and BBC. As an intern member, I joined the R&D team responsible for projects on water infrastructure and small scale renewable energy for sensors and autonomous robots. In addition to working on a variety of projects, I co-authored a peer reviewed paper at a scientific conference on energy efficiency (EEMSW2012). Show less

With a network of over 10,000 members and 500 companies worldwide, it aims to create innovative, pragmatic and sustainable solutions to global water needs and challenges.As the Director responsible for events and awards I was in charge of the strategy and implementation of a portfolio os science (and other practical knowledge) dissemination with over 40 yearly events. The highlights are the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, a bi-annual conference for aprox. 10k water professionals, and the IWA Water and Development Congress & Exhibition, a bi-annual conference for aprox. 3k water professionals.   SWA is a United Nations-hosted global multi-stakeholder partnership with the vision of a World with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for All, Always and Everywhere. Together, SWA’s partners stimulate high-level political dialogue (at both the country, regional and global levels) and coordinate and monitor progress toward the sanitation, water and hygiene-related targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More specifically, SWA’s work focuses on encouraging and motivating partners to increase political prioritization of water, sanitation and hygiene; ensure adequate financing; and build better governance structures and institutions.In late 2022, the partnership included over 350 governments and their development partners, including civil society, the private sector, United Nations agencies, research and learning institutions, development banks and the donor community. At SWA, I was reponsible for the engagement of partners from External Support Agencies (incl. UN agencies, development banks, bilateral agencies, etc), Research & Learning institutions, Private Sector, and Utilities & Regulators. Show less
